Kid's Carnival (29/12/12)

It was the time of the year again for Kids’ Carnival in Orchids-The International School. Organized on the 29th of December and inaugurated by R.Raja Rithvik, Asian Chess Champ, a student of class IV and pride for all of us, it attracted a huge crowd of students, alumni, and their families. Games, balloons and bright colours, cheerful laughter and best wishes - What better way to ring out the old and ring in the new?
Several stalls were put up – The four Houses of the school, Carnation, Daffodil, Marigold and Tulip vied with one another with their umpteen games and dishes. Art and craft, fun and music, food stalls offered loads of entertainment even to the bookworms in the festive season. Even the alumni long to return to their school on the Carnival for a reunion, as the most vibrant annual event- Carnival stays ever fresh in their memory.
While camel ride, horse ride and bouncing thrill offered a world of excitement to the younger kids, Treasure Hunt raised the curiosity and competitive spirit of the older. ‘Guess who it is’ conducted by the Principal, Ms.Mona Mehdi provided a lot of amusement to the children. Distribution of various Carnival prizes at the end of the day culminated the day’s events giving a sense of satisfaction leaving each child with souvenirs and memories of a great day at the Carnival.

He swept all the six rounds to log in the maximum six points in the prestigious Asian event that was organized by Asian Chess Federation and had entries from ten nations. With an international rating of 1536, he made a sensational victory over much higher rated A. Nodirbek (Rating-1932) of Uzbekistan in the final round and clinched the Asian Rapid title. Christmas Celebration 22/12/12

Christmas is the season of joy, love and festivity, and Orchids wore a festive look for the season. On the 22nd of December, we had a grand celebration of Christmas in our school. As a part of the celebration, we had mellifluous Christmas carols by our teachers and also a marvellous depiction of the birth of Jesus by students. Later, we were enthralled by bubbly dances of our little angels and also our French students wishing all a Merry Christmas.
The memorable moment of the celebration was the surprising entrance of Santa Claus and the distribution of gifts. He cheered all of us with spirited steps to the rhythm of carols and of course with sweets and gifts. Principal Ms. Mona Mehdi participated in the cutting of the cake. It was a celebration of entertainment and information and has reminded us of the value of love and the importance of sharing.

Card Making Competition (21/12/12)

December is a month of joy and sharing happiness Apart from e-mail and text messages, we also express our feelings and happiness through cards. Bearing this in mind Card making competition was held on 21/12/12 for classes I to V. The participants came out with beautiful ideas and creativity that amazed us a lot.

Periodically, fifteen minutes at the end of each day, for a week, are allotted for the children of classes I to X to develop their reading habit.  A three-day Scholastic Book Fair is also held to encourage the students to pick a book of their choice.
